FEHB PROGRAM HEALTH INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY & PRICE/COST TRANSPARENCY

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) encourage s Federal Employee health benefit (FEHB) plans to increase their use of Health Information Technology (HIT). HIT helps your health plan and health care providers deliver safer more efficient care. Using HIT, your health plan offers tools that help organize your health information, access information targeted to your health needs, and determine the quality and price/cost of the doctors, hospitals and other healthcare needs for you and your family.

HIT, allows patients, health care providers and health plans to share information securely, reducing costs by avoiding duplicate procedures and manual transactions. Most importantly, HIT reduces medical errors; for instance, from misread handwritten prescriptions, and emergency care medical decisions made without complete and accurate health information. HIT can also help you find appropriate health information to aid you and your doctor in making appropriate clinical decisions regarding your care. Since privacy and security considerations are vitally important, safeguards have been established to keep your records safe from inappropriate disclosure.

Personal Health Records
In 2012, GlobalHealth launched MyGlobal, a secure portal on our website for our members to access personal health records (PHR). PHRs provide a convenient way to track, view, and manage your personal health information. PHRs also allow you to share your health information with your health care providers so they have a better picture of your health history. When providers know your health history they can make more accurate diagnoses and provide you with safer more efficient care.

Quality and Price/Cost Transparency On-line Tools
GlobalHealth offers you and your family access to health care quality information so you can make more informed choices. At this time, GlobalHealth offers all services with set copays per service, which protects your total out of pocket expenditures. You know exactly what you are going to pay, because you know exactly what your copays will be. All non-emergent services outside of your Primary Care Physician’s office must be authorized and obtained from a GlobalHealth Network Provider. However, access to health care quality information will help you and your family to make more informed choices together with GlobalHealth.
